SlumberPod is known for its privacy pod for babies and toddlers. And now, you can get a SlumberPod for your pet’s crate.

When you open up the box, you’ll find the fabric canopy and a set of two poles. A carry bag is also included with the assembly instructions sewn into it. You’re going to need to set up the pod yourself, and for us this took about five minutes. First, you’ll need to unfold the poles then bend them into the right shape. Next, cover the crate with the fabric canopy so that the sleeves are on top of the crate. Slide one pole through two sleeves diagonally, then slide the next pole through the other two sleeves. Clip the poles into place with the clips on the side, then secure them in the tabs at the bottom of each corner of the crate. You can unzip the front of the pod to allow your pet to get in and out freely, or keep it shut while they sleep to help them stay calm and relaxed.

When it is fully set up, the canopy measures 42 inches long, 32 inches wide, and 33.5 inches tall. It can fold down flat for storage or for travel. It will fit over most extra small to medium-sized pet crates. Your crate shouldn’t be any bigger than 30 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 21 inches tall. If you don’t have a crate, you can use the SlumberPod with dog or cat beds instead, as long as they are no larger than 35 inches long and 26 inches wide. There should be some distance between the canopy and the kennel, which helps create airflow. The fabric itself is very lightweight and breathable, while also blocking out light. There are foldable vents on the sides to allow more airflow as well as a fly vent on top.

Additionally, there is a pouch where you can insert SlumberPod’s Portable fan, which requires additional purchase. You just press the button on the back to switch it on and off or change the speed. It also rotates around to allow airflow from any angle. You’ve got to plug it into a power outlet, and the cord is only about two feet long. This means you will either need to set up your crate near an outlet if it isn’t already, or get an extension cord.

Should I get it?

A crate cover is a great way to keep your dog feeling protected and comfortable while they rest. Personally, we would prefer to use a blanket for our own dogs because it would do the trick without requiring any assembly or taking up nearly as much space. However, some dogs may need a sleeping environment free from distractions or disturbances and the SlumberPod provides the full coverage needed in those cases. The blackout fabric can help put anxious animals at ease while the breathability creates enough ventilation to keep them comfortable.
