Hasbro has updated the favorite kids board game Operation. The new version features three ways to play and a portable carrying case that opens to reveal the game board and storage. The game comes with the gameboard, attached tweezers, 12 ailments, and 12 cards. You can play the game with one or more players ages 6 and up. You’ll need three AA batteries, which are not included.

With two or more players, you can play the classic way, which is called Hospital Mode. Take turns drawing a card and trying to remove that ailment from Cavity Sam. If the tweezers touch the metal sides of the cavity, your turn is over, and now the next player must try to remove that same ailment. If nobody can do it, place that card at the bottom of the deck. But if someone successfully removes it, they get to keep the card and the ailment. When all the ailments have been removed, count up how many cards you have, and the player with the most cards wins.

Another way to play is Emergency Mode, and this is also for two or more players. Press and hold Cavity Sam’s nose to start a countdown, and then you’ll have 60 seconds to remove as many ailments as possible. Each player gets their own 60-second turn, and once all players have played, the player who removed the most ailments wins.

If you just want to practice your skills, play in Check-Up Mode as a solo player. Press and hold Cavity Sam’s nose to start the countdown, and then you’ll have 60 seconds to remove as many ailments as you can. Keep playing to beat your best score.
