Bring out even more of your inner Disney villain with Disney Villainous Treacherous Tides. As the name suggests, this game lets you play as one of two villains from the ocean: Davy Jones and Tamatoa. This game is called an “expandalone”, which means you can play it on its own or use it as an expansion to the other Disney Villainous games.

If you’ve played Disney Villainous before, you’ll be familiar with the gameplay and components, including the Realm Boards, Fate Decks, Villain Decks, and Villain Guides. There are two Villain Movers, two Villain Decks, two Fate Decks, five Treasure Tokens, one Maui Deck, two Realm Boards, two Villain Guides, 15 Strength Tokens, 25 Power Tokens, and two Reference Cards. Each Villain Guide tells you what the villain’s objective is, and this is what you’re trying to achieve through the gameplay. Each villain also has different cards, abilities, and challenges.

On your turn, you’ll move your Villain Mover to any location in your Realm. There are symbols in these locations representing actions that you can take. For instance, you can gain power, play a card from your hand, play a Fate card on the other player, activate a card in your Realm, move an item or ally, move a hero, discard cards, or vanquish a hero. At the end of your turn, draw from your Villain Deck until you have four cards again, and then it’s the next player’s turn. If you complete your villain’s objective, you’re the winner no matter what location your Villain Mover is at or what heroes remain in your Realm.

Should I get it?

Villainous fans love these games for a variety of reasons: the strategic gameplay, the collectible Villain Movers, and the incredible artwork of favorite characters. We like that fans can play this game on its own or mixed in with other Villainous games. If this is your first time playing a Villainous game, make sure to read through all the instructions first. There may be a first-time learning curve. But it’s fun to play as the different villains, and for different objectives for each one, the game will be different for you depending on who you play as.
