Editor's Review
The LEGO Architecture series Taj Mahal (item #21056) set is 2,022 pieces and intended for experienced builders ages 18 and up. Colors are predominately a slightly cream off-white, some terracotta red, a saturated beige, and a dash of gold, right at the top of the domes. Considering the immense detail in the genuine article, pulling off a miniature of this inimitable building is nothing short of impossible. However, LEGO has nonetheless done an incredible job approximating the grandeur of the Taj Mahal, in its broad strokes. The tile floor is mesmerizing, the minarets frame the main building very well, and the smaller domes have such a brilliant and ingenious construction which is still evident after it is put together. Overall, the essential details are replicated finely in the 5 domes, the railing along the roof, the hatched windows and the arched entryways, making it an unmistakable portrait of the Taj Mahal.
This build should take between 2 and 3 hours, depending on your experience level, endurance, and speed. Take caution when handling, as the minarets can easily be knocked over if one is careless. Should you need to store or transport the completed work, we recommend removing the minarets at the base, as well as the spires atop each dome to avoid damage.
