Flippin’ Pickles tests your memory in a silly game that features funny pickle characters on each card. The object of the game is to make pairs of matching Flippin’ Pickles, and the player with the most pairs of cards wins. You can play the game with two to four players ages 7 and up. Each player gets three cards, studies them, and places them face-down. You can’t peek at your cards again. Then players take turns drawing a card from the draw pile and making a match. There are a few ways to match. You can match one of your face-down cards with the face-up side of another player’s card. If one of your face-down sides matches one of your face-up sides, you can match them. If two of your face-down cards match, you can match them. And if neither of those options worked for you, then you draw a card from the draw pile and try to match either side of it to either side of your cards. Now, these instructions are from the Flippin’ Pickles website, however, the instructions included with the game do not include all of these ways to match, so make sure you go to the website for the full updated rules. When you make a match, those cards get set aside in your “win” pile, and you get to keep matching until you can’t anymore. If the cards don’t match (you flipped over the wrong card from your hand), then the cards get discarded. When your turn is over, you can draw more cards to your hand, if necessary. You can’t have more than three cards. When the draw pile runs out of cards, flip over the discard pile and use it as the draw pile. Keep playing until no more matches can be made, and the player with the most matches wins.

Should I get it?

This game is pretty easy to learn, though it can be difficult not only to remember what pickles you have in your hand but also to remember the different ways to make a match. We do wish that the updated instructions were included within the game or at least a reference card for everyone to look at.

Pros

Tests memory skills
Pretty easy to learn

Cons

Printed instructions not updated
