Monopoly App Banking Review

Editor's Review
You know how everyone hates being the banker in Monopoly? Now you can play the classic game without a banker thanks to Monopoly App Banking. This takes Monopoly into the modern ages with a free app that scans bank cards, keeps track of how much money you have, and lets you play mini games. There’s a throne to hold your phone, six action cards in the center of the board, upgrade crowns to double a property’s rent, and six colorful character tokens: a car, a penguin, a Scottie dog, a battleship, a T-Rex, and Hazel the cat.Â
On your turn, you’ll roll the dice, move your token on the board, scan the card for the board space you landed on, and follow the app’s instructions. Then your turn is over. So if you land on an unowned property, you scan that property’s Title Deed card, select buy, and the app will automatically take the money from your account. Or if you land on an owned property, you’ll have to scan the Title Deed card to pay rent.Â
If you land on an upgrade crown, scan the upgrade crown card, place a crown on any property on the board – even if you don’t own any, and scan the Title Deed card of the property you’re upgrading. The app keeps track of it all.Â
Go, Free Parking, Go to Jail, High-Speed Rail, and Chance are now Action Cards, so if you land on one of those spaces, you scan the appropriate Action Card to play mini games, collect money, and tell the app that you’re in jail.Â
When all properties are owned, each player gets one more turn. Then the app will tell you the winner based on the amount of money you have, the rent value of your properties, and any end-game bonuses. (You can get one for being in jail the longest.)
