No longer will you have to be stuck in a chair or on the couch when you pump if you purchase the Baby Buddha Portable Breast Pump.  The pump comes with: a pump motor, two bottles, two 24mm flange kits (silicon cushions and flange covers), a tubing kit, a carrying tote, and a detachable lanyard. The nursing pump is conveniently small and can be hung around your neck using the included lanyard so you can have a hands-free pumping experience. It has a closed system to ensure milk doesn’t flow backward and get contaminated. The Buddha is rechargeable and wearable which makes pumping on the go super easy. It has a quiet mechanism which makes pumping discreet. The Buddha has six levels of Stimulation Mode and nine levels of Expression Mode. You can use the trackball to navigate through the 15 different settings and land on the perfect one with a simple swivel of your thumb. The unique suction pattern in stimulation mode mimics the suction pattern of a baby which helps to trigger a letdown and increase your breast milk supply. While the Buddha is supposed to help you be hands-free when you pump, it’s not what I would consider to be portable. Technically, it is portable because you can put the battery pack around your neck, but this is not a discrete version of pumping. Also, it’s not hands-free at all unless you get a separate pumping bra, which wasn’t clear upon opening it. I loved that The Buddha had the carrying pack which again, in theory, helps it with being portable but, unless you buy a separate pumping bra, this is not portable. I have been breastfeeding and pumping for 17 months now. I first started to pump on Stimulation mode 1 and Expression mode 1 and the silicone felt very rough pulling on my skin. It did express immediately which was great, but I was not comfortable while pumping with the Buddha.  Personally, I wouldn’t bring this with me if I’m out all day. I would have to find a bathroom or room to pump in, so I would still be chained to a single place unless I was using it in my own home.

Should I get it?

This isn’t as discreet or portable as other portable breast pumps.

Pros

  • It’s semi portable.
  • Helps express milk immediately.

Cons

  • The pump felt rough on my skin when it pulled.
  • It’s not portable unless you have a pumping bra so you’re still stuck in one place when you pump.
