Weekend Box Office:America Loves Captain America

In a summer packed with super hero movies, the last superhero, aka The First Avenger, aka Captain America, had the highest opening gross weekend of all the super hero movies. Captain America: The First Avenger made an estimated $65.8 million as opposed to Thor’s $65.7 million, Green Lantern’s $53.2 million and X-Men: First Class’s $55.1 million.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 added another $48.1 million to it’s cauldron, which was off 72 percent from it’s opening weekend. That 72 sounds like a lot but considering the opening weekend frenzy, it puts the movie roughly on par with Hallows Part 1 and is still the fastest grossing Potter film ever.
