Wow in the World Dino Dig & Diorama Review

Editor's Review
Kids ages 4 and up can dig and explore with the Wow in the World Dino Dig & Diorama kit. Acting just like paleontologists, kids will excavate 10 dinosaur figures from 10 dinosaur egg replicas using a rock hammer and chisel. Then, they can make a prehistoric diorama with the dinosaur figures and plant stickers. And while they are digging and building, kids can read through the eight-page, full-color guide to learn about prehistoric creatures and plants. You can also join “Wow in the World” podcast hosts Guy Raz and Mindy Thomas to unlock audio facts from the guide. Additional supplies of a cup or small bowl of water and newspaper or paper towels will also be needed. The water helps soften the plaster eggs, while the newspaper/paper towels help protect your work surface from making too much of a mess.

Should I get it?
Yes, digging out the dinosaurs is messy, but it’s also pretty fun, especially when you combine the podcast fun facts. We do wish that there was a second set of tools so that two kids (or a parent and child) could work and chat together. (This sparked a lot of conversation about genetics, DNA, and prehistory among my daughter and I as I sat with her while she worked.)
Pros
10 eggs to dig
Kids learn as they work
Play in prehistoric diorama
Cons
Messy
