There are lots of ways to make science fun thanks to Wondery Kids Wow in the World science kits, such as the Everlasting Volcano and the Sea Creatures Aquarium. Each is sold separately.

With the Everlasting Volcano, kids ages 4 and up can cause different volcanic eruptions using the pop-up volcano machine. The first eruption uses color-changing slime, which is included. The heat from your hands makes the slime change colors. You can also erupt rubber balls or do a classic vinegar and baking soda eruption. (Of course, that’s going to be the messiest option.) The instruction booklet explains what’s going on with each eruption experiment. It also provides information on how the slime changes color, how the pop-up volcano works, and how real volcanoes erupt. While the kit does include the volcano model, 20 rubber balls, slime, a measuring beaker with clip, and a sticker sheet, you will need to provide vinegar, baking soda, red food coloring, and paper towels.

Kids ages 6 and up can raise real living brine shrimp from eggs with the Sea Creatures Aquarium. The kit comes with everything you need: an aquarium, two salt packets, a brine shrimp eggs packet, a brine shrimp food packet, a magnifying glass with clip, a pipette, a small scoop, and a sticker sheet. There’s some prep that adults will need to help with because it involves boiling water before pouring the water into the aquarium. (You’ll therefore need to provide water, a cooking pot, and a stove.) But once prepared, it’s easy to hatch the eggs. You pour half the contents of the egg packet into the aquarium and wait one to two days. The magnifying glass will help you see the tiny twitching dots close up. After three days, feed the brine shrimp, and repeat the feeding every two weeks. You’ll also need to pump air bubbles into the water with the pipette to oxygenate and clean the water. The instruction booklet provides information on the life cycle of brine shrimp and the salty waters where they live.

With both kits, kids can listen to exclusive Wow in the World podcast content to enhance the learning experience. Just scan the QR code in the instruction booklet and press play on each track when the instructions prompt you.
