With Riley being almost 8 months old, he is starting to grow out of his infant car seat. This Primo Viaggio Convertible Kinetic Car Seat from Peg Perego is the perfect next step. It comes in four colors- Licorice, Merino Wool, Mon Amour, and Wonder Grey. We are reviewing the Licorice color today! This car seat is recommended for children 5-65 lbs.; rear facing 5-45 lbs. and forward facing 22-65. The rear facing mode reclines to provide a relaxing angle and the top tether hook increases stability in forward-facing mode. This car seat allows the child to sit rear facing up to 45 lbs. as long as your child’s head is 1-inch below the headrest edge. EPS and EPP foams provide increased protection and comfort throughout the headrest and it has adjustable side impact protection (AKA SIP). The Kinetic Pods are something I haven’t seen on any other car seat before. They help to move forces away from your baby in case of a side collision, which is incredibly important. The Primo Viaggio Convertible Kinetic Car Seat comes with a 5 point harness and an anti-rebound bar spacer that increases the legroom for your child by 2 inches.

To get the ARB spacer out of where it is stored the car seat it has to be in the upright position, not reclined. Unfortunately in our car, we won’t be able to use the spacer because the car seat barely fits in the car to begin with, without it If you do use it with your car, it is kind of hard to put on and take off. The wide seat includes a removable tri-stage cushion for newborns, provides comfort and support and should be used until your baby reaches 22 lbs. Its contoured base provides extra stability in any seating position. The seat is made of Fresco Jersey Fabric and comes with a cup holder. It’s very heavy, so if you have to travel it is very hard to lug around through an airport as it’s 21.6 lbs. In the directions it says Riley has to be reclined 45 degrees but there is no bubble level, just a line to ensure it is leveled correctly.
