LEGO Ninjago Ninja Ultra Combo Mech & More Review

Let’s start small and work our way up. Zane’s Power Up Mech is a very short build, but the result is pretty cool. You get the mech with a spinning Ice blade, katana, ball and socket joints in the shoulders and thighs, plus minifigs of Zane, and a Cobra Mechanic. Despite the low piece count, the color distribution on the mech is fairly complex. You can even load Zane into the cockpit to complete the look. Ice is nice for fighting snake guys!

Next we have Lloyd’s Race Car EVO. This fun afternoon build creates a supremely decked-out race car with firing stud launchers, and a mini Cobra Cart. Minifigs include Ninjago leader Lloyd, Python Dynamite, and Cobra Mechanic. Lloyd’s Race Car has rubber tires on its rolling wheels, a posable spoiler, and a removable windshield so you can put Lloyd in the driver’s seat. The design of the car is incredibly cool, mixing two hues of green, gold, and black for a vehicle worthy of the Ninja of Life.

Lastly we have the Ninja Ultra Combo Mech. In this set you get Kai and his Mech, Zane and his snow tank, Cole and his drill machine, and Jay with his jet. Also included are a Cobra Hovercraft, plus Cobra Mechanic, Boa Destructor, and Wu Bot. Zane and Cole’s vehicles can roll on their treads and wheels respectively, Jay’s Jet has posable wings, and Kai’s Mech has articulation in the hips, shoulders, and knees. With a little bit of effort, and some transforming, these 4 vehicles can combine into the Ultra Power Battle Mech. This mech is huge, and still remains a little posable even with its massive stature. One small issue is that pieces can easily fall off while you’re assembling the mech. However, the contact points where the mechs connect together are solid as can be! This set is so fun, you’ve “gattai” get it!

Given the high quality of the sets prior, you should also keep an eye out for these sets on store shelves: Jay and Nya’s Racecar EVO comes with Jay’s Racecar, Nya’s Glider, a Cobra Helicopter, and 4 Minifigs, Jay, Nya Cobra Mechanic and Boa Destructor. Lloyd’s Ninja Mech is a bite-sized kit with a small mech, a Lloyd minifig and a Boa Destructor minifig.
