Editor's Review
You’re never too young or old to get crafty, and with three new arts and crafts toys from Bright Stripes, kids young and old have lots of ways to be creative.
The Art on the Go! Cut & Create Activity Pad is part of the company’s I Heart Art Jr. line. Designed for ages 4 and up, it comes with a pair of scissors that can be used by either righties or lefties. Each of the activity pad’s 25 pages is designed to help kids practice using scissors, with projects increasing by skill level as they go. There are projects that kids can cut, assemble, and decorate with 204 stickers. While it does provide non-verbal instructions, parent guidance will still be helpful.
The Sparkling Aspirations Art Journal, for ages 6 and up, comes with seven gel pens, a sheet of foil stickers, a stencil, five project pages, a 10-page paper pad, and a techniques guide. This allows kids to create art using inspirational words and meditative patterns. Kids can get expressive with guided projects and blank pages. The paper in this is black, which really makes the neon inks and sparkly stickers pop.
And the Wish Craft Mystical Jewelry Design Studio lets kids ages 8 and up make more than 15 bracelets and necklaces. The set comes with heishi beads, real crystals, charms, and more. Everything comes organized on the plastic tray. While the instructions aren’t super specific, they do provide ideas for how to add tassels, different bracelet bead designs, twisting cord, and wrapping netting around a crystal. From there, it’s really up to kids how they want to design. The set includes a rose quartz stone, a crystal pendant, three mushroom charms, a butterfly charm, a strawberry charm, nine gold beads, five colors of disk beads, 16 wood beads, four colors of round beads, cotton embroidery floss, polyester rainbow and turquoise metallic floss, waxed cord, stretchy string, 12 jump rings, four toggle clasps, and instructions.
