Editor's Review
Get ready to turn ordinary cardboard into creations of your imagination with ChompSaw. This is an electric toy for ages 5 and up (though adult supervision is recommended) that reduces the need for cutting cardboard with scissors or box cutters. It kind of reminds us of feeding fabric through a sewing machine, except you’re feeding a piece of cardboard through the ChompSaw’s cutting head. You can cut a straight line by pushing the cardboard straight. You can cut a curved line by rotating the cardboard. The device collects cardboard dust in its collection drawer, which you’ll need to empty at least every 30 minutes to prevent overflowing cardboard clippings. The instructions even suggest a website where kids and adults can go to learn about reusing or recycling those cardboard clippings. The set also comes with a hole punch tool for easily punching a hole through cardboard and a scoring tool for easily folding cardboard.

Should I get it?
Usually when it comes to cardboard creativity, kids have the ideas, but the parents have to do all the work with scissors or box cutters. Not so with ChompSaw. There might be a learning curve to using this, especially for the youngest kids. There’s a sweet spot for how fast you push the cardboard. But once kids get the hang of it, they’ll really like how easy it is to cut into spare cardboard for making all sorts of things!Â
