OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The Batmobile is 1360 pieces and will take roughly six hours to build at an average pace. The build is fun, and not particularly difficult. All the same, most of your pieces will be gray or black, so pay close attention to the instructions anyway.

After it's done, the Batmobile looks so sick! The muscle car version of the Batmobile is perfectly replicated; you wouldn't mistake it for any other Batmobile in a million years. The car body is predominately black, but the bricks are arranged in such a way that it captures the surface details impeccably. We especially enjoy the way the hood and grill look. Some small but appreciated details include the angled console dashboard with odometer, an opening hood, the blue exhaust flames, and the exposed engine, easily the crown jewel of the set. Unfortunately the underside of the car is a little hollow, but how often are you going to be looking at it from this angle?

You can roll the Batmobile back and forth, or steer it using the dial on top. Ironically, the steering wheel doesn't do anything mechanically besides rotate itself. Turn the dial left and right to steer the front tires, and push down on it to activate the light up feature in the engine. Dim the lights in the room to make this look even more awesome. The headlights can also illuminate by pressing the lever inside the cab. If you want both to light up at once, it can be a little tricky to pull off, especially while driving. When the rear tires roll, the pistons inside the translucent frame move up and down, and the propellant flame rotates.

So. Unbelievably. Cool.

Is It Fun?

This set is a fun build and an even more fun toy. The finished build looks great on your shelf, but it's great for play as well.
