Last week, I had a chance to try out Cooking Mama 4, the latest Cooking Mama game and the first 3D version for the popular franchise. If you love to be served up a platter of cute and quirky mini-games, you will love Cooking Mama 4 for the Nintendo 3DS.
In addition to the 3D graphics on the upper screen, CM4 is also the first game to take full advantage of the 3DS’ gyro stabilizer thingy. In other words, the game recognizes and responds to how you move the 3DS. I played a game that involved coating a frying pan with a melting slab of butter, which I accomplished by moving the 3DS in my hand like you would a real frying pan (full disclosure, I’ve never melted butter on a frying pan so I’m assuming it’s done like in the game).
Cooking Mama 4 won’t be available until October, however, Game Stop is currently taking pre-orders for the game and giving away a bonus Mama to people who pre-order. The Mama, is this cute plush version of Mama (pictured above) and can be picked up in stores. I’m guessing this is a while supplies last promotion and also, there is no mention of the dolls’ dimensions so this thing could be the size of a toddler or small enough to hang your keys on.
