The 2016 ABC Kids Expo opened in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning previewing the hottest new products and trends in the baby business. And the baby business looks brighter than ever. That’s certainly the case when it comes to color. Walking around the Las Vegas Convention Center, it was obvious that telling a color story was hugely important to many of the manufacturers exhibiting.
And why not? After years of black, navy, and shades of gray, pops of color were everywhere, making a nice complement to the sleek, fashion-forward designs that were also featured by lots of exhibitors.
For our first day, we decided to focus on the brilliant baby gear. Favorite stroller company UPPAbaby is adding all kinds of colors—from teal to red to rich burgundy and purple— to its classic stroller designs. It’s added a lot of fun to the function, and its huge display showcased the wide range coming for 2017 (pictured above).
Not to be outdone, Bugaboo (above) showed hoods and stroller bodies in rich jewel tones for 2017 that could add just the right amount of fashionable flash to any stroll with your babe in toe.
And who can resist the tartan looks from Stokke? The Stokke Scoot Winter Kit is just what you’ll need to add a bit of Scandinavian flare as you stroll with baby in a winter wonderland. Warm and cozy gloves attach to the handle so you can slip in and out to unbuckle your little one with ease. And the green-and-red plaid option (above) could make even the grayest afternoon seem lighter.
But it isn’t just strollers that are getting colorful makeovers. The line from 7 A.M. Enfant features airy winter pastels on its snuggly wrap-ups and roomy Voyage backpacks.
They’re just the thing to chase away the winter blues. Unless, of course, you’re talking about the company’s rich blues, which will also make you smile with their cheerful hues.
Over at Fisher-Price, we found super sleek baby gear featuring dazzling whites, warm grays, and accents of bright colored patterns in seat linings. These pieces are as functional as they are beautiful, and ideal for today’s style-savvy families. Speaking of great style, designer Jonathan Adler’s line for Fisher-Price is equally striking with great geometrics in black-and-white and strategic use of accent pieces in bright colors to create the look of luxe that’s very much on trend.
In the last few years, we’ve seen a new emphasis on style, fashion and design in baby gear at all price points. Obviously, since we love great design, this thrills us. It also speaks to a larger trend for today’s families who expect that their sophistication will be reflected in all their lifestyle choices, including baby gear. This is gear you wouldn’t mind leaving out in the living room. And since, let’s be real, sometimes you do, isn’t it nice that it’s as great to look at as it is to use?
We think so.
Stay tuned for more TTPM Baby coverage from the ABC Expo tomorrow, as we continue our trend-hopping adventure!
