As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I hate to admit it but I lost interest in the last season (Season 3) of The Clone Wars. I’d watch it whenever TiVo thought that I might like it but I didn’t even bother setting up a series record.
My problem with The Clone Wars is that we all know what is going to happen to the characters (if the following is spoiler info for you chances are good that you really don’t care) – Anakin joins the dark side and becomes Darth Vader, Padme dies giving birth, Dooku and Grievous are killed, Yoda and Ben go into hiding, the Emperor flips a switch and all the clones turn evil, etc.
I love the idea of the Star Wars animated series but wouldn’t it be great if they revolved around characters and story lines that we don’t already know the ending to? Mr. Lucas (since I’m sure you are reading this), what about jumping ahead a few years and showing us a series based on Darth Vader (having recently joined the dark side) and his adventures as he hunts down and destroys the Jedi Knights? Or, what about the period between episodes 3 and 4? Who wouldn’t want to see the early days of the rebellion? Or take an idea from the video games and go way back in time to the days of the Old Republic.
I’ll keep focusing my Jedi abilities on convincing Lucas to develop these ideas. In the meantime, I’ve got the trailer for Season 4 of The Clone Wars and it looks like it could be a good season. Maybe I’ll even set up a series record for it. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
