Hollywood’s bean counters are still busy tallying up the exact figures but as of this morning, Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs are tied for number one with both movies taking in an estimated $36.2 million each. It was exciting weekend for anyone who finds a thrill in watching numbers, as Smurfs took #1 on Friday with $13.40 million (compared to Cowboys & Aliens’ $12.99 million) but was then galloped over by Cowboys on Saturday when the space-western earned $13.07 million and Smurfs smurfed up $12.70 million. That’s smurfing exciting!
Captain America: The First Avenger followed the two number one movies while Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 came in fourth while crossing the $300 million mark. Something called Crazy, Stupid, Love (definitely not going into my queue) rounded out the top five for the weekend.
