Catapult Engineering Review

Editor's Review
The best way to learn how something works is to build It. And with the six-in-one Catapult Engineering kit, kids can build functional models of six medieval weapons while learning about physics. Models include a crossbow, a reverse-draw crossbow, an onager, a catapult, a trebuchet, and a ballista. The 32-page, full-color illustrated manual provides assembly instructions, as well as experiments that demonstrate physics and engineering topics, such as force, energy, motion, and trajectory. Kids will find themselves launching foam balls and soft-tipped projectiles at the cardboard target blocks. The box itself turns into a castle that kids can color and decorate.
You’ll only be able to build one model at a time, so pieces will need to be disassembled in order to go between models. A separator tool is included for this.

Should I get it?
Curious kids who like construction toys will have fun building the different models and exploring the science behind them through the suggested experiments. These working models will also just be fun for imaginative play. While we do wish that some of the picture instructions had been clearer (or at least bigger), we like how the instruction booklet guides kids through experiments and explains the science behind what’s happening.
Pros
Build 6 models
Models really work
Hands-on science learning
Cons
Instructions could have been clearer
Can only build one model at a time
