Editor's Review
For any child who needs help managing big emotions, the tools inside the Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Daniel’s Calming Corner Kit may be a big help. It comes with a cushion for a child to sit on, a feelings Dry Erase board, six fidgets and a storage tote, an emotions puzzle dice, and five posters. Through the play with all of these tools, kids will practice how to identify six basic emotions: happy, sad, worried, scared, surprised, and angry. Learning to identify emotions helps your child to “properly and safely experience, embrace, and navigate their emotions”. A parent guide walks you through how to use the tools in the Calming Corner Kit. For instance, your child can start each day by writing down how they feel and how they want to feel on the Dry Erase board. Or spend time together practicing the infinity and rain breathing techniques on the posters. The parent guide also goes over the benefits of each of the fidgets. Use the cushion and posters to set up a designated space for your child’s Calming Corner, and use this space as often as is needed.

Should I get it?
This is a great way to promote social-emotional learning among any child ages 3 and up. We like how it gives parents everything needed to set up a Calming Corner for their child. And kids will like seeing a familiar character, Daniel Tiger, on the kit’s posters.
