The Equalizer, Denzel Washington’s latest action movie, easily claimed the top spot on the Box Office list with a $34.1 million debut. That’s the fourth-highest September opening ever, and Denzel’s 12th movie in a row to debut to more than $20 million. Last week’s #1, The Maze Runner, dropped to #2 and was closely followed by the #3 movie, The Boxtrolls.
In Marvel news, Guardians of the Galaxy passed the first Iron Man movie’s domestic haul, and has now earned $319.2 million. Guardians is now the third most successful Marvel movie, behind The Avengers and Iron Man 3.
