What It Is

Between the moving staircase and secret passages at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it can be tricky for players to find their way around LEGO's Harry Potter Hogwarts board game. The first player to successfully navigate the magical castle to collect all of their homework and get back to the common area is the winner.

This game is part of the LEGO Games lineup, a collection of games that kids build, play, and change. There is a buildable die and changeable rules to make each time you play new and exciting. Building takes about 30 minutes, but that's part of the fun. The object of the game is to travel around Hogwarts castle and collect all of your "homework"—spell, potions, etc. But just like in the real Hogwarts, surprises await. The paths can switch at almost any time, adding challenge and excitement to the game. The game takes about 30-40 minutes to play, and it's engaging enough to entertain the entire family.

The Hogwarts game comes with nine LEGO minifigures, five special microfigures (including Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, and Albus Dumbledore), four Hogwarts student microfigures (one from each house), 332 LEGO pieces, a rule booklet, and a building instruction booklet. The game is for two to four players.

LEGO games made a huge hit when they debuted in 2009. Combining great builds and sophisticated gameplay, these are a great value all around.
