Right now in LA, the video game extravaganza, E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is taking place. This is the gaming trade show where the biggest names in the industry show off what they have been working on and what we can expect to see in stores in the near future.
At past shows, we were treated to our first glimpses of the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3, however, this year the focus appears to be on the games. While there will always be a plethora of games targeted to hard-core, guy gamers, this year we are seeing more games for girls than ever before including Ubisoft’s new Style Lab that will allow you to take your picture with the Nintendo DSi camera and then give yourself a digital makeover.
Another trend emerging this year involves integrating cameras into game-play. This concept has been around for a few years with the Nintendo DSi, in stores now, featuring two built-in cameras. Now Microsoft and Sony are getting into the camera game with motion-sensing camera control systems that will allow gamers to use their bodies to control a game. We probably won’t see either of these camera controllers until 2010 so stay tuned for more info.
