The 2011 Pokémon World Championships

I’m counting the days until the 2012 Olympic games in London. Fortunately, there are other global competition events to tide me over. One of which just crowned it’s champions in California. Pokémon trainers, fans and their families descended on San Diego over the weekend for the 2011 Pokémon World Championships.

More than 400 players from over 27 countries competed in the three day competition on Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon Trading Cards. The weekend’s competitions were the culmination of a season of regional games. At the end of the three days, six players emerged as world champions with three representing video games and three from the trading card games.

Here are the 2011 Pokémon Video Game World Champions:
Masters Division Champion: Ray Rizzo (US)
Senior Division Champion: Kamran Jahadi (US)
Junior Division Champion: Brian Hough (US)

And the 2011 Pokémon Trading Card Game World Champions:
Masters Division Champion: David Cohen (US)
Senior Division Champion: Christopher Kan (Australia)
Junior Division Champion: Gustavo Wada (Brazil)
