LeapFrog has taken some classic toys and made them out of 100-percent FSC-certified wood. The Wooden AlphaPup is a classic pull-along toy with an electronic twist. Turn on the dog and take it for a walk to hear one of three learning songs. The dog’s wobbly blue tail lights up as the toy sings. Or push a letter button to hear letter sounds and words. There’s also a dog button that kids can press to hear doggy phrases and a music button for playing the learning songs. The toy includes two AA batteries, and it has two levels of volume.

Should I get it?

Little ones will have fun sitting and playing with this pup or taking it for a walk around the house. Pressing the buttons is helpful for fine motor skills, and the lights, songs, and phrases encourage little ones to learn about the alphabet and first words. Plus, when little ones take it for a walk, there’s some active play, too.
