With UNO Teams, it’s not enough to get rid of all of your cards. Your teammate has to get rid of their cards, too. This version of the classic card game can be played with two to four teams ages 7 and up.

It plays just like classic UNO where you match cards by color, number, or symbol. Instead of playing individually, you’re playing in teams of two. Partners sit across from each other, and once the dealer has dealt everyone seven cards, everyone passes one card from their hand to their partner. Try to pass a card you think your partner will be able to use. Then play begins. If you don’t have a card to play, you must draw one from the draw pile. Your new card can be played immediately if it matches.

This game also has special action cards, such as Draw Two, Skip, Reverse, and Wild. New cards include Wild Team Play, which means that you choose a color and then play skips directly to your partner. If your partner can play a card, great, but if not, you have to draw two cards. And Wild Team Draw Four means that the next player draws two cards and skips their turn, and then their partner draws two cards, even if they are out of the game.

Some cards have a Passing Symbol. When one of these cards is played, you and your teammate both pass each other one card. While you and your teammate can talk to each other during the game, you can’t say, indicate, or hint anything that will influence the card passed or the color chosen.

When you’re down to one card, don’t forget to yell “Uno!” to avoid a penalty. When you play your last card, you take half of your teammate’s hand and keep playing. Of course, if your partner only has one card, they don’t pass you anything and you stay out, unless you get tagged back in if your partner draws cards for any reason. When you both “go out”, your team wins.
