Hasbro’s got some new ways for Nintendo fans to play favorite games with Monopoly Animal Crossing New Horizons and The Game of Life Super Mario Edition.
Super Mario fans can play The Game of Life and choose their path to Bowser’s castle. Fans will have fun playing as Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Yoshi. Of course, the game board looks different with lots of elements and characters from the video game. The gameplay is also a little different with the main objective being to defeat Bowser to win as opposed to retiring or collecting money. Once you get to Bowser, you’ll need to spin higher than 12 to defeat him. On the board, you get to choose different areas to explore before heading to Bowser, giving you more time to collect coins and buy stars that will help boost your score when you fight Bowser. There are also minigame cards that let you battle other players for prizes. Essentially, you spin the spinner, move that number of spaces, and do whatever the space you land on tells you to do, from collecting coins, drawing an action card, or traveling to a different pipe. Don’t try to battle Bowser too soon, because if you lose, you return all the way to start.
Monopoly Animal Crossing New Horizons is all about visiting islands, collecting resources, and selling those resources for bells. You can then use the bells to buy decorations and earn Nook Miles. The player with the most Nook Miles at the end of the game wins. The Monopoly board, while designed in the familiar way, features elements and graphics from the Animal Crossing game that will be a lot of fun for fans. And like in the familiar game of Monopoly, there’s still Free Parking, Just Visiting, and Go to Jail spaces, and you take turns rolling the die, moving around the board, and carrying out the rules of the board space you land on. There’s also a Nook’s Cranny die that you must roll, and that tells you what resources you can sell to the bank at the end of your turn. And when you pass GO, you don’t collect money. Instead, on your first pass of the space, you pick up a skill card that gives you a unique ability during play. On your next passes, you get to shop for a decoration at Nook’s Cranny in the middle of the board. Once a player has purchased seven decorations, the game ends.

Should I get it?
We like that these games have their own unique take on the classic games of Monopoly and The Game of Life. Fans will like the different gameplay elements that really tailor the games to the brands. That said, because these games are so different, you’ll want to make sure you read through the instructions so you know what the different rules are. But if you’re a fan of either Animal Crossing or Super Mario, then these games will definitely make fun additions to your next game night.
