The Mutant Mayhem Sewer Lair Playset comes unassembled out of the box, and the building process is actually pretty involved. There are all manner of multicolored molded pieces, stickers, clear pieces, and even a giant cardboard backdrop. Installing the backdrop requires a bit of care, since if it’s misaligned even a small amount, the side flap won’t stay in place. Regardless, it’s beautifully illustrated and full of details from the movie. Characters, buildings, grime, and graffiti, it’s all here! The stickers are also well illustrated, but it’s not always clear where certain stickers should go.

The playset doesn’t include any of Mutant Mayhem figures, so you’ll have to track down some of those separately. If you do have some though, you can enjoy the play features upon play features in this playset, including a zipline, trap door, telephone booth periscope, and several secret entrances. The molded detail on every surface of the set is excellent, and hightens the immersive value. And thanks to the free standing subway entrance, you can arrange the set, and the Zipline, in any way you want!
