Editor's Review
Five varieties of lightsaber are shown in our review: Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Darth Maul, and the ancestral Darksaber of the Mandalorians. Out of the box, the lightsabers come in varying degrees of assembly, Luke’s is intact, while Darth Maul’s will come in several parts. Of course the fun of these lightsabers is in the construction. Wherever you see a spring loaded button, you can press down, and then pull or twist the two components apart. Each lightsaber set on its own has a straightforward configuration, but where it gets really interesting is in mixing and matching. Each part from one set can be combined with a compatible part from another set. Want a red blade with a gold hilt? Can do! Or if you’re feeling super chaotic, pair a Jedi’s green blade with a Darth Maul motif. Speaking of the lightsaber blades, they are retractable only to a certain point, since the inside of the saber changes based on what combo you have.
Some of these sabers have lights and sounds! As long as you have a Phillips screwdriver and no more than 3 AAA batteries, you’ll be good to go! Darth Maul, Luke, and the Darksaber all have battery compatibility. The sounds activate with the press of a button, and trigger based on movements.
