PonyCycle Model Y Review

Editor's Review
Don’t have the space for a real pony or unicorn at your house? PonyCycle is the next best thing. The new Model Y is 100-percent kid-powered and comes in six different styles, from more realistic-looking horses to rainbow unicorns [which is what we got for free for this review]. Available now in two sizes, one for ages 3-4 and one for ages 4-7, the PonyCycle moves forward when kids place their feet on the footrests and gently bounce up and down on the saddle. It’s quite a leg workout, helping engage leg muscles and boost balance and coordination, according to the company. As kids ride, they’ll hear sound effects thanks to the battery-operated touch-activated sound button. (Two AAA batteries were included with ours, but they needed to be replaced.) There’s also a hand brake for stopping. This toy can be used indoors or outdoors. Assembly is required, and we did have some difficulty attaching the head.Â

Should I get it?
The riding motion of PonyCycle simulates a real horse gallop, making kids feel like they’re really riding a horse or a unicorn, all the while developing balance and coordination during the play. Whether riding PonyCycle inside or outside, the toy gets kids away from screens, engages them in active play, and encourages them to use their imaginations.
