Editor's Review
Help your kids understand and express their emotions through play with a collection of toys from My Mama Says.
Everything starts with the My Mama Says Inside Me Lives a Village book. Written by Nadine Levitt with illustrations by Miriam Mitzi Ross, this book talks about the village of emotions that lives inside each of us, from a grouchy snapper fish and angry hippo to a sad puppy and a shy mouse. It also helps kids see that they are in control of their big feelings.
A second children’s book, My Mama Says Inside Me Lives a Superhero, explores the power of words, actions, and inactions.
To supplement these books, kids can identify emotions and color pictures of animals in the Who’s In Your Village? Coloring Book.
Activity Placemats foster creativity as kids use the six dry-erase markers to find and color in the 30 hidden emotion characters, then erase and do it all over again. There are four placemats in the set.
The Yoga Deck contains 30 cards, each featuring an emotion character and corresponding yoga pose. This is a great way to get kids active, while also helping them express their emotions through movement.
The Magnetic Board and Activity Set comes with a wooden storage box for the double-sided magnetic whiteboard, 30 magnetic emotion characters, and dry-erase marker. Kids can tell a story about the characters on the printed village side of the board or draw their own scene on the blank side.
And if you’re feeling angry or sad and need something to cuddle up with, Angry Hippo and Sad Sullen Pup are available as soft stuffed animals. Each one, sold separately, is made from super soft material with embroidered facial features.
