If your little one wants to be a little chef, get them started with some pretend cooking with the Little Tikes Creative Chefs playsets. The Waffle Kit and Pizza Kit give preschoolers hyper-detailed play food and utensils to give kids a feel for a real culinary experience. This is all pretend, so don’t eat any of it.

Specifically, the Waffle Kit comes with Make It! Mix, a play sand that can be used in the realistic waffle maker. The whipped cream, egg yolks, and butter are all also made from Make It! Mix sand. Kids can follow the easy-to-read recipe card to learn how to make pretend breakfast and follow basic visual instructions. Additional accessories include a butter dish with cover, a whipped cream mold, an egg carton, a maple syrup bottle, a strawberry basket with two strawberries, a plate, a fork, a knife, a bowl, and a spoon. The box unfolds into a play table so kids can display their creations.

The Pizza Kit comes with Make It! Mix play sand so that kids can roll out pretend pizza crusts, and then pretend to cook it in the light-up pizza oven. Three AAA batteries are included for that. The pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese are also made from the Make It! Mix. An easy-to-read recipe card helps preschoolers put together their pretend pizzas while also helping them learn to follow visual instructions. Add three mushrooms, three basil leaves, and three pepperonis to your pizza. Then slice it up with the pizza cutter. Additional accessories include a pizza board, a rolling pin, a spatula, and a plate. The box becomes a display table for kids’ culinary creations.

Should I get it?

These playsets are a really fun way to merge creative play with tactile play. Preschoolers will like how they can mold real-looking waffles and watch their pretend pizzas bake in the oven. Yes, some of the sand will get mixed together as kids play, but that’s okay. These kits do a great job of letting kids use their imaginations and feel just like Mom and Dad cooking in the kitchen.

Pros

Realistic cooking tools
