The LEGO Super Mario series is known for its deep play value and colorful cast of characters, and these sets uphold that reputation. Starting with Lab and Poltergust, you get, well, exactly what the name suggests! You also get Professor E. Gadd, and Gold Ghost, as well as a pair of overalls with the Poltergust that is compatible with a LEGO Luigi, sold separately. This may be a simple set, but it has a couple of play features. The podium has posable arms for the Poltergust and flashlight, and the ghost machine can be flipped using the lever.

Next let’s look at Entryway. This set features a swinging gate, gear operated door, a well, opening windows, and Bogmire Bowling. It’s tricky to get just right, but press down on the trigger to fire a bolder and knock him down. For characters, you get Bogmire, Polterpup, and a Boo.

Lastly we have the most robust set of the bunch, Haunt and Seek. This is definitely the most visually impressive set, featuring 4 characters, Grabbing Ghost, Garbage Can Ghost, King Boo, and a very distressed Toad. Find all of the clear colored jewel bricks hidden in the bed, under a serving platter, and in the commode! Further play features include a flipping billiards table, a collapsible frame to free toad, and a battle with King Boo himself. Jostle, bob and weave to knock the malevolent monarch from his perch and give him a stomp. Of course, if you happen to have a LEGO Luigi, all of the aforementioned features in all three sets have contact points for even more interactive play. For example, you can say hi to Polterpup, or give Luigi a scare with any of the ghosts.

Should I get it?

Even without a LEGO Luigi, these sets are fun to tinker with, build, and display.
