The Speed Champions Chevrolet set is 512 pieces, and will take you a couple hours at a relaxed pace. As with the other Speed Champions sets, the final cars look decently like their real world counterparts. The super smooth and subtle curves of the 1968 corvette aren’t perfectly captured, but the approximation is enough to get the look across. What was even more impossible of a task, was making a reasonable portrait of the C8.R out of LEGOs. It looks close enough, but is probably the farthest cry from the source material out of all the Speed Champion cars. What it lacks in topographical fidelity, it makes up for with detailed stickers. Normally stickers grind our gears, but these ones really elevate the C8.R visually, and complete the distinct look. While the C8.R is covered in sticker detail to break up the gray body, the 68 Corvette is simple and elegant, with an uninterrupted russet red exterior.

At the end of the day, however accurate or inaccurate they may be, they’re still great LEGO vehicles. The C8.R has an adjustable spoiler, and both cars have removable roofs to accommodate the included minifigures. Two come with this set, and each have a hair piece and a helmet. And of course, they roll as smooth as butter.
