Editor's Review
Show your friends and family just how much trivia you know (or don’t know) when you play Geek Out! These trivia games are available in Family, ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s editions. Each game comes with a game board, question cards, a die, game tokens, and instructions, and while the trivia questions will be different, the games pretty much all play the same way.
You start by rolling the die to determine the challenge category. In the ’00s game, categories include Movies, Television, Literature, Music, and Miscellaneous. Your opponent reads aloud that category’s question on the question card. For instance, you might be challenged to name two films about insects or bugs. If you think you can do it, you bid two. Now all other players have a chance to pass if they think they can’t do it or bid higher if they think they can beat you. Whoever bids highest takes the opportunity to complete the challenge, and, if done successfully, moves their marker forward one space on the board. If the player fails the challenge, they move their marker backward one space on the board. The first player to reach the finish space wins.

Should I get it?
If you’re a fan of trivia and you want people to know just how good you are, you might enjoy these games where you get to out-geek your opponents. The bidding aspect offers some strategy to the basic ask-and-answer trivia gameplay, but, of course, you could simply play without the bidding if you wanted. You could certainly come up with your own house rules for these games, including not limiting the answers in the decades versions to only that decade. Not all of the questions in those versions are decade-specific anyway.
