Go on a ghost hunt when you play the Finders Creepers Board Game. As part of membership in the paranormal investigation society called Invisible, Inc., you get to hunt down 12 of the most horrible monsters. Be the first ghost hunter to find three, and you win.
To play this game, you’ll need two to four players ages 8 and up. Each player will also need a smart device and the free Finders Creepers app, if choosing to play with the AI in the app. However, you can play without it. For the purposes of this review, we’ll show you how to play the digital version.Â
The haunted house game board has 12 rooms, and each room includes a stack of object tiles. Some are gear to help you catch monsters, some are holy objects to give you special protection, and some are haunted objects that make it harder to move around the house. The two monster guide boards act as a reference so you know which combination of three gear items is required to capture each monster. Scanning the game board with the app at the start of the game reveals where all the monsters are hiding. Try to remember which rooms they’re in.Â
On your turn, you can perform three of seven actions. You can move your hunter to an adjacent room, following the arrows. You can search in a room by flipping over all the item tiles, but if you reveal a haunted object and end your turn in that room, you’re scared back to the entrance gate. You can collect a tile and add it to your inventory. And if you have the three gear tiles needed to catch the monster in the room, then you push the Catch button in the app, and if you’re correct, you collect the corresponding monster tombstone. If not, you lose all the gear tiles. You can also choose to scan the board if you forget where a monster is hiding. Another action option is to expel a haunted object from one room to another. Or you can use two of the special action chips earned from rolling the monster dice.
After your turn, you must roll the three monster dice. Each die has two unique icons and four blank sides. On the orange dice, if you roll Run Special Action or Gear Special Action, you collect one of those chips. This will either allow you to move your hunter to any room you want or collect any gear or holy object tile from any room you want. If you roll Shuffle Monsters, hit the “shuffle monsters” button in the app to move all the monsters to new rooms. And if you roll Discard Item, you must get rid of one item from your inventory.Â
On the green die, if you roll Haunted Object, you add a tile from the stack to the room you’re in, and now you’re scared back to the entrance gate. If a Grand Escape is rolled, this means the monsters have escaped the haunted house and are now in your house. This uses augmented reality as players race around the house to find and blast the monsters back to the board. You get two gear tiles if you blast the most monsters.
The game includes a game board, four character figures, three monster dice, 42 gear tiles, six haunted object tiles, four holy object tiles, two monster guide boards, eight gear special action chips, eight run special action chips, 12 monster tombstone tiles, 12 monster portrait cards, and 12 grand escape cards.

Should I get it?
The styling of this game will appeal to those who like silly, spooky things. We liked playing the game with the app because it was cool to see the monsters appear on our phone screen as though they were really in our living room. The use of AR and AI elevates this from a typical board game, though you can play the game without it.Â
