Editor's Review
This Cars racetrack is over 40 inches long, but first you’ll have to perform some modest assembly. The set comes with a miniature Lightning McQueen toy car, which is lightweight, but very well molded and covered with tons of tiny racing brand decals. It rolls super smoothly back and forth with the slightest push, making it satisfying to play with on its own. These gliding wheels work all the better on the track itself. Wind the dial on the turn to get the booster ready. Load Mr. McQueen onto the starting position, and then press the green button to launch! As Lightning passes the pressure plate, the booster will activate, pushing him the rest of the way across the track! Repeat passes diminish the power, but you can dial it back up if you’re quick enough. Adjust the track diverter with the orange switch, and perform a pit-stop with the red slider. We really enjoy how each control is color coded to match the corresponding feature; this makes it easy and intuitive for kids to learn and remember. Ready for a real cool stunt? Wind the dial all the way up and then twist the jumbotron at just the right time to launch into the winner’s circle! Lightning won’t always make the cleanest landing, but when everything hits just right, the effect is very cool.

Should I get it?
This track is a lot of fun and contains a powerful ‘wow’ factor for younger kids. It provides plenty of active play features for kids while also offering the convenience of an automatic booster.
Pros
- It’s easy to build.
- It comes with a car (and not just any car, but Lightning McQueen!)
- The play features are designed well and are intuitive for kids.
- The booster feature is satisfying to play with as well.
Cons
- The winner’s circle jump doesn’t land consistently every time.
- We would have loved one more car to truly make it a race!
