Editor's Review
Become a science superhero with fun, hands-on science kits from Yellow Scope. These kits are made by scientists who are also moms. After volunteering at their daughters’ school, they decided to start Yellow Scope with the mission to close the gender gap in science.
The Acids, Bases & pH: Cabbage Chemistry kit includes color-changing experiments, such as making your own pH paper, discovering the pH of everyday liquids, and neutralizing acids and bases. Along with the lab equipment needed to complete the experiments, the science kit also includes a 24-page lab notebook with information on how to use the equipment and conduct experiments safely, as well as instructions to set up three different labs with experiments.
Foundation Chemistry: Beakers & Bubbles includes the tools kids need to discover what happens during chemical reactions, how molecules move, and how temperature affects chemical reactions. The 32-page lab notebook goes over safety and proper use of the equipment, as well as gives kids background on just what chemistry is. Then it’s on to three different labs, each with several experiments to complete.

Should I get it?
We like that these kits come with pretty much all the tools to get started, and kids will like that the tools look like real science tools, making them feel like a real scientist. The lab notebooks are colorful and interactive, with space for kids to draw what they see happening and write down their hypotheses. We also like that the lab notebooks give examples of how the experiments translate in the real world, giving kids a more thorough understanding of what they’ve just done. The collectible pins are a nice touch, encouraging kids to complete more of the Yellow Scope science kits in order to collect them all.
