In Theaters: Hansel & Gretel, Movie 43

Two new movies open in theaters today and both will probably be tempting to the teens and tweens in your house. I’ve put together some info on both to help you decide if these movies are ok for your kids or not.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is the latest fairy tale to get the Hollywood treatment. It stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, who play grownup versions of the almost cannibalized kids, Hansel and Gretel. As you might imagine, being nearly cooked and eaten by a witch has had a profound impact on Hansel and Gretel and they have devoted their lives to hunting down and killing witches. The movie looks as goofy as the premise sounds and is rated R because of strong fantasy horror violence and gore, brief sexuality, nudity and language.

Movie 43 is a comedy starring everyone in Hollywood…literally. I haven’t seen the movie and can’t tell what its about from the trailers so here is a quote from ComingSoon.net, “Movie 43 is not for the easily-offended and contains jaw-dropping, sometimes shockingly disturbing, but always entertaining intertwined storylines you’ll have to see to believe.” The movie is rated R for strong pervasive crude and sexual content including dialogue, graphic nudity, language, some violence and drug use.
