It might not be fashion week but that doesn’t mean we weren’t trend spotting! Still bathing in the afterglow of our trip to the ABC KIDS Expo in Vegas, we have the inside scoop on all the trends you can expect to see in 2016. Who cares about the Pantone Color of the Year, the baby industry is setting its own pace with the hottest designers creating one-of-a-kind gear, eco-friendly strollers, and it’s all in the details.
While there was no shortage of cool new stuff at the ABC KIDS Expo, we homed in on a few functional trends that are sure to stick around.
1. Tokidoki
Tokidoki was everywhere for this season, from car seats to cloth diapers, disposable diapers, diaper bags, and more. This is one designer whose designs have a bit of an edge for the über trendy parents, while also having the right amount of whimsy to draw kid appeal.
2. Heather Grey
While the rest of the world is obsessing over what the next Pantone Color of the Year will be, the baby industry has already deemed Heather Grey its “it” color. From strollers to diaper bags to entire accessory lines, this subtle, yet modern, shade will be right on-trend for 2016.
3. Multi-Functional
While you are trying to Multitask your busy schedules, some fab baby products are already doing just that—and they are doing it well. There are cribs that turn into beds and desks, magnetic high chairs that evolve into desk chairs for when kids get older, and much more. Parents don’t have the space nor want the space they do have to be overrun with baby gear. Baby brands are finally catching on and products with multiple functions and grow with baby are in for this season and beyond.
4. Technology
As expected, Technology in baby gear continues on as another hot trend. We saw changing pads that measured baby’s temperature, weight, and more; a sock that measure baby’s vitals; and even activity play mats that take selfies of baby. It is 2015, after all!
5. Geometric Design
Geometric design in nursery décor was high on our trend-spotting list. The colors are whimsical, but this Mad-Men geometric mod style is something we think even Don Draper would like for a nursery.
We are excited about all these trends in baby. How couldn’t you be? It’s design, functionality, and longevity at it’s best. 2016 is going to be a fashion-forward year for baby gear.
