Exhibit Allows Fans to Step Inside Barbie’s Dreamhouse

It took 20 pounds of glitter, 100 gallons of pink paint, and a year in the making so fans of Barbie’s Dreamhouse can step inside for the ultimate Barbie experience.

Mattel has partnered with EMS Entertainment for the creation of two real-life Barbie Dreamhouse locations. There’s a 25,000 square foot Dreamhouse in Berlin, Germany, and a 10,000 square foot Dreamhouse in South Florida at Sawgrass Mills.

Fans can purchase tickets ranging from $15 to $30 and embark on a tour. Each guest will wear a bracelet that uses RFID technology, which will serve as the key that unlocks the tour. Fans are invited to create their own personalized experience—including digitally trying on Barbie’s fabulous fashions and customizing digital cupcakes in her gourmet kitchen. The Dreamhouse will feature pink elevators, a walk-in “glitterizer,” an endless closet, and a dazzling “diamond” ring display.

Barbie’s best friends, family, and pets are also featured throughout the experience in unexpected ways with animation, photography, and interactive games. And, of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without 350 Barbie dolls and additional collector memorabilia on display.logo

Can’t make it to Florida or Germany? Watch the webseries, Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse (http://dreamhouse.barbie.com/en-US) to get a peek inside Barbie’s world. The Dreamhouse featured in this series served as the inspiration for the Dreamhouse exhibit.

This exhibit ties into the sale of Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse (see previous post here: http://tinyurl.com/cea8uol) and Barbie’s exciting, global search for a new locale. It is part of Mattel’s global Dreamhouse celebration running throughout 2013.
