Exciting news from Disney World and the planet, Pandora! Yesterday Disney announced that they have entered into a partnership with James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment to create an Avatar park at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.
Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment will act as the creative consultants on the project and will work side-by-side with Disney’s Imagineers to create a park that will take visitors into the worlds of Avatar. Notice the plural “s” on the word, “worlds”? That’s because the agreement will include settings and, um, worlds from the two Avatar sequels that are in the works.
Construction on the Avatar-themed land is expected to begin by 2013.
