A long time ago (1997) in a galaxy far, far away (Florida). . . .
Disney World held it’s first Star Wars Weekend celebration. The event, which took place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, was a celebration of Star Wars with a Disney twist that melded the two entertainment super-powers and created a Death Star of fun for park visitors. The out-of-this-world weekend included appearances by cast and crew members of the movies, attractions, special events and Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters like Jedi Mickey, Minnie as Leia, and Goofy as Darth Vader.
Today, Disney Star Wars Weekends are an annual event that take place in late May through early June. This year’s Star Wars Weekends will be the first time that Disney has owned the Star Wars franchise so chances are good that this will be the biggest Ewok Celebration yet.
Disney recently unveiled some of the products that will be available at the park during this year’s Star Wars Weekends and they are enough to make me want to buy an admission pass now! I have a few pics for you below so you can check them out. Starting with my favorite, a 9″ Mickey, Jabba mash-up.
Next, Mickey’s Jedi Starfighter.
Disney also owns The Muppets so here are some Muppet Star Wars figures.
Disney Star Wars Weekends will take place this year (2013) from May 17 to June 9, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park at Disney World, FL. For more information, visit the official site by clicking here.
