In completely unsurprising news, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 easily claimed the #1 spot in its opening weekend with $92 million. What might be surprising is that while $92 million is a huge opening, it isn’t breaking any records or coming close to last year’s Iron Man 3, which opened on the same weekend at #1 with $174.1 million.
Last weekend’s #1 movie, The Other Woman, dropped to #2 and was followed by Heaven Is for Real at #3. Marvel’s other superhero movie currently in theaters, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, continues to do well and moved to #4 on the list. The animated sequel, Rio 2, rounded out the Top 5.
TTPM has been reviewing the toys from both Marvel movies. You can see our Captain America reviews here and Spider-Man 2 reviews here.
