Box Office: Godzilla Roars & Blasts Expectations

After Sony’s disappointing Godzilla reboot in 1998, bringing the giant monster back from the depths was a bit of a gamble. Fortunately for Warner Bros., and Legendary Pictures, that gamble paid off as the latest Godzilla exceeded expectations in its opening weekend with an estimated $93.2 million. That’s the second best opening of the year,  and not far off from the best, which belongs to Captain America: The Winter Soldier and it’s $95 million opening.

Last week’s #1 movie, Neighbors, has another great weekend and earned $26 million in its second weekend out. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continued it’s slide down the list arriving at #3 in it’s third weekend out. The web-slinger sequel has now earned $172.2 million and looks like it’s on its way to becoming the least successful movie in the Spider-Man franchise.

TTPM (that’s us) has reviews of the toys for the season’s biggest movies.  You can check out our Godzilla page by clicking here, our Spider-Man page, here and our Captain America page, here.
