Time To Play: Outdoors in the Summer

In my family, the summer is all about being outside. Our days are filled with going to the beach, going to the pool, playing in our backyard and heading to our local park. Simply put, my sons love playing outdoors. I especially love it because it’s time for them to be BOYS! They don’t have to worry about being inside and having to be quiet while the others nap or have to clean up the toys in the living room when they’re done. They can run and jump and skip and swim and hop and race with smiles and laughter – true excitement in the sun.

TTPM.com: In Nature

As a kid, I remember being outside constantly in the summer. We lived in a tiny town in southern Oregon with a little creek in our backyard and fields all around. Today’s kids often spend too much time inside with video games and other media instead of playing outside in the sun and the dirt!

TTPM.com: Summer Activities for Babies and Toddlers

So, keeping those issues in mind, I have learned to be creative in trying to come up with activities that will keep the kiddos occupied, happy and safe…thus keeping me sane!

TTPM: In The Garden

What better way to teach your children about healthy living than growing your own vegetables together? Kids are natural gardeners. By the time they’re about 4 years old, they’re eager to help and ready to learn about growing veggies. Plus, children are more likely to eat – or at least try – vegetables they’ve grown themselves.

Toys, Tots, Pets & More: Resourceful Game Playing

As parents we hope to teach our kids the basics – colors, shapes, numbers – while still having fun and spending quality time together. Fortunately the toy industry has risen to the challenge by creating new and exciting learning games each year while continuing to update the classics. But after awhile, even the child who is Candyland’s biggest fan may want a break from playing the same game in the same way. Rather than run out and by a new product, save time and money by reinventing the way you use the games that are already in your home.
