After dominating the box office for three weeks, The Avengers was finally bumped off the top of the list by MIB 3. Will Smith’s latest alien-battling, action-comedy took in $70 million over the long holiday weekend, which is fairly impressive considering that the last MIB movie came out nearly a decade ago. It wasn’t all bad news for The Avengers. With an estimated $46.9 million earned over the weekend, the movie has set a new record by earning more than $500 million in just 23 days. The movie should pass The Dark Knight ($533.3 million) by Friday and move into third place on the all-time domestic chart.
