One of the coolest things I saw at E3 earlier this year was Nintendo’s new 3D DS, the 3DS. The 3DS will play games and video in 3D, without the need for 3D glasses. I had a chance to play with and watch a movie clip on a working 3DS at E3 and it really is amazing. We now have some specifics as to when the new handheld game system will be released and what games will be available for it when it arrives.
Nintendo has confirmed earlier rumors and the 3DS will be in stores in March of 2011. Unfortunately, Nintendo has not confirmed the price yet but the Japanese 3DS will cost about the equivalent of $300. It’s hard to imagine that the US version will cost more than the Wii but I’ll keep looking for the price announcement and will keep you posted.
Ten games will launch at the same time as the 3DS and here they are:
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D from Nintendo
Nintendogs + Cats from Nintendo
Pilotwings Resort (working title) from Nintendo
Pro Baseball Spirits from Konami
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle from Level 5
Ridge Racer 3D from Namco Bandai
Samurai Warriors Chronicle from Tecmo Koei
Steel Diver from Nintendo
Super Monkey Ball (working title) from Sega
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition from Capcom
