Editor's Review
The latest iteration of the “coolest smartwatch for kids” is here. The KidiZoom Smartwatch DX3 features dual cameras for pictures, selfies, and videos, plus one- and two-player games, daily reminders, and more. The watch is available in blue, pink, and purple, and can be customized with more than 50 animated clock faces or with your own picture. And if you need a camera flash or a flashlight, this watch has it. It also has a 1.44-inch color touchscreen and 256 MB of built-in memory. Charge it up with the included USB cable and then get to telling time and playing.
When it comes to taking photos or videos, kids can use the watch’s touchscreen to tap between different effects. There’s even an option for making a voice recording and adding silly vocal effects.
From the games app, kids can choose from three games to play. In Cat Diver, help the cat avoid obstacles while collecting gold keys. Super Baker is all about matching the sweet treats on the conveyor belt to each customer’s order. And in Present Express, rotate the conveyor belt tracks so that the presents don’t get stuck. From a separate menu, there’s an augmented reality Monster Catcher game where monsters appear on the watch screen, and kids must tap them to catch them. Additional games include Time Master, which is all about practicing telling time, and Action Challenge, which has three active games that challenge kids to run, jump, and dance. Sound Shakers isn’t really a game. Instead, any time kids shake their wrist, they’ll hear a sound play, such as a princess waltz or a train.
With the DX3, there are games and other activities that can be played or shared with a friend who also has a DX3. Use the Magic Scan app to pair watches, and then play Tic-Tac-Toe, Treasure Hunt, and Find the Diamonds from the Connection Games app. Amazing Dish is another game that lets kids mix and match ingredients to create amazing dishes and then share them with other DX3 friends. You can also use the Greeting Card Maker app to make cards to send to other DX3 friends.
If you want to change the clock face display, simply swipe the touchscreen to see more options. You can also create a custom clock face using your photos from the Photo Clock Faces Maker app.
And the watch has apps for a pedometer, alarm, timer, stopwatch, calendar, calculator, and daily routines. That means kids (or their parents) can set reminders for waking up and bedtime.

Should I get it?
As with the KidiZoom Smartwatches before it, the DX3 has some great features that are all easy for kids to navigate. We like how it incorporates typical smartwatch features with fun games and active challenges. This version keeps some of the favorite features of previous KidiZoom Smartwatches while also providing some nice updates: light and flash, watch pairing, daily routines, and clock faces.
